This week the House of Representatives will consider HR 1745 - the Family Health Care Accessibility Act, a.k.a. FTCA for Volunteers. This legislation would extend the same medical malpractice coverage currently available to 330 health center employees to volunteer health professionals at these centers. By having this coverage, health centers would be able to utilize qualified volunteer medical professionals without the burden of purchasing costly medical malpractice gap insurance.
