CHICAGO – July 31, 2012 – New benefits outlined in the Affordable Care Act began yesterday, August 1. These provisions offer women an array of preventive services that involve zero cost sharing. The list of fully covered services includes annual OB-GYN visits, breastfeeding support, HIV and other STI testing and contraception among others.
Erie Family Health Center’s Dr. Andrea Lee, OB-GYN was featured on WBBM-TV Channel 2 News to offer her insight on these benefits and how they will significantly impact the ability of health care providers to make affordable high quality health care available to low income, uninsured and underinsured patients.
In her interview with reporter Suzanne Le Mignot, Dr. Lee discusses how these policies give women easier access to care and a better chance at maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
