In Memory Pam

Leaders are visionaries, taking us to where we need to be. Pamela Annette Myers Waymack was one of the rare types who provided direction to not only her friends, family and loved ones, but also clients, patients and colleagues.

Caring supporter of Erie Family Health Center Pam Waymack, 54, died on August 23, 2009 of cancer. She is survived by her husband of thirty years, Mark Hill Waymack, PhD, and their two daughters, Anna Fore Waymack and Kathryn Alena Waymack.

Born on August 22, 1955 in Iowa, Pam grew up in Silver Spring, Maryland and earned her A.B at the College of William and Mary. She came to Chicago to study at University of Chicago and obtain her MBA in Health Administration. In her professional career, she worked in administration at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, the University of Maryland Hospital, Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Children’s Memorial Hospital of Chicago. After 25 years of being in health care management, Pam decided to take the next step and create her own consulting corporation, Phoenix Services. In addition to her consulting, she authored a book on claims management, as well as numerous articles. Several of those articles won awards for best article of the year from the professional society, Healthcare Financial Management Association. She was active in various community projects and served as president of the Evanston Current Events Class.

In recent years, she became an advocate for Erie Family Health Center, for its efforts to make non-profit health care accessible to its underserved community in Chicago. Pam will be sadly missed by many at Erie Family Health Center, but warmly remembered by our Board, management and staff. Our heartfelt condolences go out to Pam’s family and friends during this challenging time.

A memorial service will be held at First Congregational Church of Evanston, 1445 Hinman Avenue on Saturday, August 29th, at 3PM. In lieu of flowers, Pam’s family has requested that donations may be made to Erie Family Health Center.
