Dr. Nicole Kazee joined Erie Family Health Center in 2017 as Vice President of Strategy and Business Development. In this role, Dr. Kazee will help ensure the sustainability of Erie’s mission by leading the development of strategic goals and plans. She will also identify and lead new business and service opportunities and help ensure Erie’s continued successful implementation of Medicaid managed care.

Dr. Kazee brings extensive experience in all of these critical areas. Before joining Erie, she served as the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Strategy for the University of Illinois Hospital and Health Sciences System (UI Health). There, Dr. Kazee provided leadership around Medicaid implementation, offering successful strategic guidance on improving the system’s financial position and the quality of patient care. 

Previously, Dr. Kazee served as the Senior Director of Health Policy and Strategy and the Director of Health Policy and Programs for UI Health. She has also been a joint-appointed assistant professor for the University of Illinois Institute Of Government and Public Affairs and the University of Illinois at Chicago Department of Political Science, where her work focused on Medicaid policymaking.

Dr. Kazee received a bachelor’s degree in Politics from Wake Forest University and a PhD in Political Science from Yale University. She serves on the boards of the AIDS Foundation of Chicago and the Center for Housing and Health, where she is currently board chair.
