Thank you for doing COVID-19 testing at Erie Family Health Centers. Please read this information as it is important in making sure you do not get other people sick. An email with the result of your COVID-19 test will be sent to your email address.
Please do not call Erie to request it. The email will arrive within 5 business days. We encourage everyone to continue to follow public health guidelines: wash your hands, wear a mask when outside your home and stay six feet apart from everyone not in your household.
- Shortness of breath/Difficulty breathing
- Sore throat
- Loss of taste or smell
- Body aches
- Nasal congestion/runny nose
If you currently have or have had any of these symptoms in the last two weeks, a negative test result does not mean that you do not have COVID-19. It is possible that it was a false negative. Per Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines, you will need to isolate at home until ALL three of these things are true or you can still spread the virus to other people:
- It has been at least 10 days from when your symptoms first started
- You have gone 24 hours without a fever without the use of medicines to reduce fever-like Tylenol or Ibuprofen
- You feel an improvement in your symptoms (you can still feel a little sick but you should feel better than before)
Once all of these things are true, you are able to return to work and your normal life. If your symptoms are getting worse, especially if you have difficulty breathing, please call us at 312-666-3494 to speak with a healthcare provider. If you need a return to school/daycare letter and did not receive one at the time of your appointment, please call us at 312-666-3494.
If you were near someone with COVID-19 and never felt sick, you must still quarantine at home for 14 days from the day you last saw the person you know with COVID-19. If you start to feel sick, please call us at 312-666-3494 and we can schedule another test for you.
If you were not near someone with COVID-19 and never felt sick, your negative test result means you did not have COVID-19 on the date of your test.
If you feel well but were tested ahead of your delivery or dental appointment, no further follow-up is needed. Your negative test will be in your medical record for your future healthcare needs.
